Tournament director Wade Vickery started this tournament in 1987 with 8 teams. In 2015, it had 152 teams, from seven different states and even one from Germany. In 2014, the tournament expanded to include both boys and girls clubs teams for the first time. A family affair, Vickery’s wife Nancy heads the information table at UC San Diego, and his son, Adam, is in charge of the tournament’s website. Games are held on campus as UCSD and Alliant University giving the event a unique collegiate-level feel.
